RISHIL JOSHI

The Jack of the interview is Mr. Rishil Joshi, the director of the film “Welcome Purnima”. One of his life decisions tells us a lot about him as a person. In order to fulfil his family’s dreams, he joined law college. However, his passion for art, culture and cinema attracted him so much that he left law and became a filmmaker. A visionary director with the determination to deliver nothing but the best is how we know him. Let us hear from the man himself;

1. Who or what is your inspiration point? What made you make this film?

Ans.The journey of “What and Why” can be traced back to my childhood. I have, at all times, been connected to theatre, stage, and dramas; they bring out the best version of me. As a child, I always loved acting, and I had always fanaticized about making my film. When I was approached with the plot of the story, I instantly agreed. The motive for the same was that it was an amusing story, with a perfect package of twists and turns that would bring out different emotions in viewers. I treasure films with stories that include fun, laughter, and entertainment, and hence I wanted the audience to enjoy the same. Additionally, the people involved in this film are one of the best teams one can ask for. It is my pleasure to work with the same production and design team that worked for Sanjay Leela Bhansali films.

2. How was your experience working with such an illustrious team of people?

Ans. Behind every successful film, there is a very strong team that works in and out to bring out the best results on the screen. Talking about my experience in working with the team, I can’t put it into words. Our team involved one of the best people from the respective department of this industry. Be it the creative director, or the production team, the group comprised experienced members with dynamic backgrounds and histories. Each day, I encountered different perspectives on the same thing. We learned a hundred things together as a team, which now I can call my “work family”. Making a film is an experience in itself, and I can say that this has been the best experience of my career. “Welcome Purnima” is very close to my heart as it is a mass entertainment film, and I am glad that our entire team had an equal level of energy and perseverance to work.

3. How would you describe the film ‘Welcome Purnima’ in one line?

Ans.“Welcome Purnima” in one line would go as ‘Massy- Classy Entertainer’. For all the entertainment lovers, I would say don’t miss out on this film, and for all the people looking for classiness and aesthetics, buckle up your seatbelts, because you are going to love “Welcome Purnima”.

4. Fun moments at the Set!

Ans. We had countless fun moments on the set, but one incident that no one will forget was when we pranked one of the actresses. We told her that the shot was ready, and when she came to the location, to her surprise, no one was there. Such pranks too focused on ‘Purnima’ and how we jokingly pranked about it.

HEM SEVAK

The Jill of the interview is Mr. Hem Sevak, producer and actor of the film “Welcome Purnima”. Hem is one of the budding actors in the film industry who stands out because of his discipline towards work, his humbleness and, of course, the charm in the eyes. Soon to be featured in Bollywood Industry, this superstar has given one of his best acting performances in this film, making it all the way more worthy. Let us hear what he has to say;

1. Who or what is your inspiration point? What made you make this film?

Ans: The main inspiration for producing and acting in the film is the ingenuity of the story. Honestly, I have come across different types of plots and stories, but this one seized my heart. I could hear the dialogue of the script calling out to me! Not only this, the team associated with the film is just outstanding. I just knew that the journey of producing and acting would be amazing.

2. Being a Dubai-based Entrepreneur, what was it like to shoot in the interiors of Gujarat?

Ans: Shooting this film in Gujarat brought back my childhood memories of staying at my ‘Nani’s house’. There were many times when the lanes and streets of the city made me nostalgic. It felt good to witness that the roots of traditional culture are still alive in parts of the state. The beautiful mornings of the days of the shoot in Gujarat and the wide variety of Gujarati food dishes were incredible.

3. How would you describe the film ‘Welcome Purnima’ in one line?

Ans. If I had to describe the film “Welcome Purnima” in one line, it would be a mass entertaining, unique, comedy and horror film.

4. Fun moments at the Set!

Ans. There were a lot of fun moments on the set, given the script of the film. To quote a few, we used to scare people a lot by pranking them. There were times when we used to shoot on Purnima nights, and those were the nights when most of the fun and masti were done. Making squeaky noises and taking advantage of the film set to scare other team members was my favourite part!
